Monsoon Season is Coming!

6/5/2019 (Permalink)

Monsoon season is slowly creeping up on us here in the valley. To be exact monsoon season officially begins on June 15th. Have you ever wondered why Arizona has monsoons? Or what monsoon season means? Well, monsoon seasons can be defined as high temperatures, high winds, and high moisture. So why do we get monsoons in Arizona? There is a shift in wind patterns which causes the moist ocean air to now flow into dry lands such as Arizona. This is also why there is a potential to have funnel clouds/tornadoes during monsoon season in Arizona (warm moist air, cool dry air). It is important to note that during a monsoon if you can stay indoors to avoid the potential haboobs, lightning, and flooding you should! It has been reported that since 2009 26 were killed due to flooding, an unknown amount of car accidents due to dust storms/haboobs and 14 were killed due to lightning. We have the tools and knowledge to assist you if your home is damaged by the ruthless Monsoon weather. The biggest weather killer in Arizona is the heat. Check out our new blog coming in a week discussing heat safety!
