Common occurrences with Mold Remediation

When water goes undetected for an extended period mold wreaks havoc on your walls (both inside and out). So, what should you expect? Sometimes mold can be "wiped" away if your home is not "hot" for asbestos, does not have harmful molds, or if there are very small amounts. How do you “wipe” it away? Take a warm wash cloth with some soap and simply scrub the affected area until you no longer see the mold. I have done this both out in the field and at my own home (toilet line leak).

What happens when you can’t wipe it away? Often drywall will need to be removed. The reasons vary on why it should/needs to be removed. For example, if you have mold on every inch of the interior part of your drywall, that will need to be removed. Before we start “demo” we cut small holes in your wall to see where the mold is (if there are not obvious signs beforehand). This will help us determine where to start cutting, how much to remove, or what areas do not need to be treated. If there is only one room that has mold we will “seal” that room off so mold spores do not travel through your vents or by opening and closing the door.

Once the drywall is removed we will HEPA Vac the exterior wall, studs, floors to remove all the dust, dirt, and some mold spores (not all will ever be removed, just as much as we can). What else can you expect? Lots and lots of termite trails and grass! Sometimes if you are lucky beehives and wasp nests. The only lucky part about beehives and wasp nests is if there hives/nest is abandoned! No one wants to scream and run out of a room because a little bug is chasing them (been there done that). Talk about embarrassing! In the grand scheme of things this is not ALL of what takes place but these are some key points.
